Thank you for your interest in attending the STIHL National Championship Air Races as media.
The deadline to apply for media credentials is Friday, August 14, 2020. Special exceptions will be made for those receiving assignments after the deadline on a case by case basis.
Who should apply (and who does not need to)
If you are a member of the media representing an outlet with the intent to cover the air races, thank you for your interest in covering our event. As there are hundreds of applications each year, there will be limited space for those working on personal blogs, photo portfolio websites and personal sales.
Due to security reasons, individuals interested in media credentials who are already credentialed as a member of a race crew will not be given media credentials. Exceptions may exist, please contact [email protected].
If you are volunteering for the STIHL National Championship Air Races you do not need to apply for media credentials in order to submit your photos. Please reach out to [email protected] and we will get you on the volunteer submission list.
If you are a vendor looking for media credentials to cover your organization’s attendance at the STIHL National Championship Air Races, please email [email protected] before completing this form.
Notification Schedule and Pickup
Once your application has been successfully submitted our team will review it and reach out with any questions. You should hear back about your application within two weeks of applying.
Media credential packets will be prepared for approved media and can be picked up at the media/race crew trailer located in the corner of Alpha and Mt. Anderson at the Reno-Stead Airport during race week.
Please sign up for email notifications in the form below, we will send updated media trailer hours in the weeks ahead of race week.
We are working on an onsite solution to help minimize having to wait in lines to secure spots and provide a fair chance for everyone to have access to the more popular pylon buses. Please sign up for media email updates in the form below to stay up to date.
The Reno Air Racing Association team is working hard planning this year’s event while monitoring official health guidelines put forth at the federal, state and local levels. We have the fortune of hosting an outdoor event that occurs later in the season and remain cautiously optimistic that we will be able to host the 57th annual STIHL National Championship Air Races in September, but we also recognize that canceling this year’s event may be a necessary decision.
The board of directors will be making that determination by the end of June based on the status of the pandemic, the ability to safely host an event and its likely effect on participation, as well as funding that has been affected by the coronavirus including sponsorships, donations and pre-sale tickets.
There are uncertainties about what this pandemic will look like by September, but we’re hopeful the steps that are being collectively taken now to stop the spread of COVID-19 will allow us to host another world-class event.
