Reno, Nev. – The first one-hour episode featuring last year’s 53rd National Championship Air Races will air next Saturday, March 11th at 11am pacific time on NBC Sports Network – exactly 10 days from today. A short preview clip can be viewed here.
“Last year we were excited to partner with STIHL and NBC Sports to air one show,” Mike Crowell, President and CEO of the Reno Air Racing Association said. “This year, because of continued support and sponsorship from STIHL, the Nevada Commission on Tourism and the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, the STIHL National Championship Air Races will be featured in three, one-hour shows on the NBC Sports Network and we could not be more pleased. We look forward to joining our fans across the country and reliving race week all over again.”
Additional one-hour episodes, which will air nationally on NBC Sports Network, are scheduled for March 25th at 3pm PT/6pm ET and April 2nd at 12:30pm PT/3:30pm ET.

Reno, Nev. – The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) today announced that Duane Meyer has joined the team as Security Director.
“Duane brings a long and dedicated career in public service to our team,” RARA President and CEO Mike Crowell said. “With new and constantly changing requirements for safety and security, we are confident that Duane will help us maintain the high level of security required for our event.”
In February 1986, Meyer joined the Washoe County Sheriff’s Hasty Team and from December 1993 through March 5, 2015, he was a member of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office serving as a Deputy, Sergeant, a Lieutenant in the patrol division and as Captain of the patrol division. In 2005, Meyer received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Truckee Meadows Community College. Since June 2015, Meyer has worked as a Security Manager for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. From January 1987 through September 1992, Meyer served as an aviation electrician with the U.S. Navy.
Meyer holds a Nevada basic category I P.O.S.T. certificate, as well as a basic category III certificate, an intermediate certificate, an advanced certificate and a Nevada management P.O.S.T. certificate.

Reno, Nev. – The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) today announced that the Texas Flying Legends Museum will race four planes and perform with six planes at the 2017 National Championship Air Races.
“The Texas Flying Legends Museum is dedicated to honoring past generations and inspiring the leaders of tomorrow through active displays of WWII warbirds,” Mike Crowell, President and CEO of RARA said. “We are absolutely thrilled and honored that the Texas Flying Legends Museum will be racing four aircraft in our unlimited class and performing as a group with six aircraft.”
The Texas Flying Legends Museum will bring a B-25J “Betty’s Dream”, a TBM3E Avenger, a P-40K “Aleutian Tiger”, a FG-1D Corsair, a P-51D “Dakota Kid II”, and a Spitfire MkIXc “Half Stork” to Reno. All six will fly as part of TFLM’s show and the four fighter aircraft (P-40K, FG-1D, P-51D and Spitfire) will race in the unlimited class.
