THE RENO AIR RACING ASSOCIATION NAMES MIKE O’BRIEN
NEW DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
RENO, Nev. [November 20, 2018] – The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) announced today that MikeO’Brien has been named Director of Operations. Mike brings over 25 years of senior corporate and operations management to the position as well as an extensive background working with the FAA.
Beginning his aviation career in 1972, Mike has flown a variety of aircraft and missions all over the world. In 1986, he moved his international helicopter operations and aerospace product development to Reno. Since moving to Reno, Mike has spent a considerable amount of time in the Air Race hangar as a volunteer for the STIHL National Championship Air Races as well as serving as the Deputy Director of Operations during the 2018 Races.
“Mike’s vast experience and passion for business, people and communication will greatly contribute to the operation of the STIHL National Championship Air Races,” said Fred Telling, CEO and Chairman of RARA. “His broad background in the aviation and aerospace industry will benefit RARA as we continue to enhance our one-of-a-kind event for future aviators and aviation fans for years to come.”
Mike represented RARA in his new role at the inaugural International Championship Air Races China, held in Wuhan, China during November 16-18, 2018. He was available onsite as a consultant for operations and logistics during the inaugural event.
