Jim Tobul pilots one of the most storied warbirds still flying today—the Chance Vought F4U-4 Corsair, known as the Korean War Hero. This aircraft is a living memorial to those who flew and maintained these legendary fighters during World War II and the Korean War. Built in 1945, the Corsair served with distinction in the Korean conflict, flying over 200 combat missions from the decks of U.S. Navy carriers.
Restored to pristine, combat-ready condition by the Tobul family over a meticulous 13-year process, Korean War Hero now honors veterans at airshows across the nation. Jim Tobul’s precise, dynamic displays showcase both the brute power and graceful agility of the Corsair—its
signature inverted gull wings cutting an unmistakable silhouette against the sky. Each flight is more than a performance—it’s a tribute to history, heroism, and the enduring spirit of naval aviation. When you see Korean War Hero in the air, you’re watching history fly.
