The 2016 Official Rules of Operations and Competition are now posted below!

PLEASE NOTE: Further changes may be made from time to time that are not reflected in the rules on this site. Race participants should contact their class or the Reno Air Racing Association directly with questions regarding the rules.

The interpretation of the rules shall rest with the Reno Air Racing Association and the Contest Committee.

The purpose of this page is to provide information for the Race Participants. Please check back often for new information and updates.

Race Schedule

Arrival:

1200 Friday, September 9 – 1200 Saturday, September 10 (All race aircraft must be in-place at Reno Stead no later than 1200 hours on the Saturday preceding Race Week.)

Pilot Registration: Pilot Registration is located at the Southwest corner of Biplane and F1 Class Aircraft Hangar (A2 on the site map), just behind (south of) the briefing room.

  • Friday, September 9, 2016,  1300-1700
  • Saturday, September 10, 2016, 0800-1200 and 1300-1700

Mass Pilot Inbrief: September 11, 2016 – Time: TBA

Practice Period: September 11, 2016

Qualification Period: September 12, 13, and 14(am), 2016

Races: September 14(pm), 15, 16, 17 AND 18, 2016

Race Schedule: The National Championship Air Races most recent schedule will be updated daily during the races and can be found here. A planning schedule will be posted approximately a week before racing begins. However, the schedule is subject to change due to weather, safety and flight operational considerations. A current copy of the schedule will be available during the pilot briefing at the beginning of each day.

The Entry Deadline is Friday, June 24th, 2016

The Paperwork Deadline is Friday, July 15th, 2016

All entries received by Friday, June 24, 2016 will be considered “on-time”. Any entries accepted after Friday, June 24, 2016 will be considered conditional. All entries must also submit a fully completed entry package no later than Friday, July 15, 2016 to retain their status. (A completed entry package must include all required Entry Information, Pilot/Alt Pilot (if applicable) Information, Aircraft information and photos as identified in the 2016 Entrant’s Checklist.
