Racer Rules

The 2017 DRAFT Rules of Competition have been added and are below.

PLEASE NOTE: Further changes may be made from time to time that are not reflected in the rules on this site. Race participants should contact their class or the Reno Air Racing Association directly with questions regarding the rules.

The interpretation of the rules shall rest with the Reno Air Racing Association and the Contest Committee.

Racer Info

The purpose of this page is to provide information for the Race Participants. Below is the 2017 schedule for reference. Please check back often for new information and updates.

Race Schedule

Arrival:

1200 Friday, September 8 to 1200 – Saturday, September 9.

(All race aircraft must be in place at Reno Stead Airport no later than 1200 hours on the Saturday preceding Race Week.)

Pilot Registration: Pilot Registration starts at the Southwest corner of the Biplane and F1 Class Aircraft Hangar (A2 on the site map), just behind (south of) the briefing room. Class specific information will be available at a later time.

  • Friday, September 8, 2017, 1300-1700
  • Saturday, September 9, 2017, 0800-1200 and 1300-1700

Mass Pilot Inbrief: September 10, 2017 – Time: TBA

Practice Period: September 10, 2017

Qualification Period: September 11, 12, and 13 (am), 2017

Races: September 13 (pm), 14, 15, 16 and 17, 2017

Race Schedule: The National Championship Air Races most recent schedule will be updated daily during the races. A planning schedule will be posted approximately a week before racing begins. However, the schedule is subject to change due to weather, safety and flight operational considerations. A current copy of the schedule will be available during the pilot briefing at the beginning of each day.

Racer Entry & Application

The Entry and paperwork Deadline is Friday, July 14, 2017

All entries received by Friday, July 14, 2017 will be considered “on-time”. Any entries accepted after Friday, July 14, 2017 will be considered conditional. All entries must submit a fully completed entry package no later than Friday, July 14, 2017 to retain their status. (A completed entry package must include all required Entry Information, Pilot/Alt Pilot (if applicable) information, Aircraft information, and photos as identified in the 2017 Entrant’s Checklist.
